Rehabilitation Psychologists in Health Care Systems
The Academy of Rehabilitation Psychology is pleased to make available its new fact sheet, Rehabilitation Psychologists in Health Care Systems, developed to introduce the role, scope of practice, and value of rehabilitation psychologists to health care leaders, physicians, allied health professionals, and practice administrators.
The fact sheet provides a concise overview of the populations rehabilitation psychologists serve, the services they provide, and the ways they contribute to patient outcomes, interdisciplinary team functioning, and health system value. Topics include assessment, intervention, consultation, and the management of psychological, cognitive, behavioral, and adjustment-related factors that influence rehabilitation and recovery.
This resource was developed through an iterative process led by the ARP Board and informed by feedback from ARP members across practice settings. Following revision based on member input, the document was endorsed by the Rehabilitation Psychology Specialty Council, reflecting broad support from rehabilitation psychology leadership and stakeholders.
We encourage members to share this resource with clinical colleagues, administrators, health system leaders, trainees, and others interested in learning more about the contributions of rehabilitation psychology within health care systems.
